Better late than never...

I was visiting the blog Girls with Pens,
where they were discussing a new type of challenge for writer's.

Usually I participate in Nanowrimo,
an event that takes place during November in which you have to write 50,000 words.
For a wife and mother to four children, November has to be one of the busiest months,
and often the daily requirement of 1667 is not reached,
(although, I managed to win twice in the five years I participated).
This year, as I planned to work on finishing and publishing my current YA novel,
I realized that I had outgrown Nano.
So when I received information about the ROW80 challenge,
I started jumping up and down squealing in excitement,
(I did...my husband looked at me strangely...lol).

A Round of Words in 80 days helps writers to set realistic goals.
It also helps writers to make their writing practice part of their daily routine.
Round 3 started at the beginning of July,
and goes until September 22nd
Round 4 starts on October 3.

My goal is to edit five chapters a week,
a rather ambitious goal but I think I can do it.

If you want to join up check out Kait Nolan's post explaining it at

  1. Welcome! It is my first time at ROW 80 too (although I started at the beginning of the round) and so far I have found it so supportive and motivating.

Good luck with your goal and hope you can make it happen!

  2. Welcome to Row80. Understand completely about nano. It's great for beginning a book, but for finishing not so much. Good luck with your editing and see you around the row80 watercooler.

  3. I had a hard time with NaNo, though this past year I did much better than my first time. (halfway through the month instead of 3 days) ROW80 works with me so much better and also allows for different stages of the writing process such as outlining, revising, and final polish edits. I've still been bad about following my goals, but I'm getting better at it. This is my first round of ROW 80.

Best wishes to you and your writing.

  4. Also my first go at ROW80, and so far I'm loving the support. So much more enticing when you aren't alone. Good luck and best wishes on making those goals! :)

  5. Sounds interesting. I'm trying to get my head into my sequel, and have been editing for my publishing company like a storm. By the way, I loved your poetry page :)
